Strong fundraising programs depend not only on relationships and strategy, but on clear, consistent, and actionable reporting. Too often, development offices produce reports that are either overly transactional or disconnected from leadership decision-making, leaving boards, heads of school, and business offices without the information they need to evaluate progress or guide next steps.
This webinar focuses on how to design and use a core set of fundraising and development reports that support governance, management, and long-term planning. Participants will examine which reports are essential for the Board of Trustees, Head of School, Development Committee, Business Office, and auditors, and how those reports differ in purpose, frequency, and level of detail. The session will also explore how to evaluate progress against annual goals and multi-year development plan goals, using reports that reflect activity and outcomes across annual giving, major gifts, campaigns, and planned giving. Emphasis will be placed on creating reports that drive action, accountability, and strategic conversation — not just compliance.
You will learn how to:
- Identify the core fundraising and development reports every school should produce for effective governance and leadership oversight.
- Distinguish between board-level, management-level, and operational reports, and understand how each audience uses information differently.
- Design reports that evaluate progress toward annual fundraising goals and multi-year development plan objectives.
- Create actionable reports for the Head of School and Board that support strategic decision-making rather than retrospective review.
- Align development reporting with the needs of the business office and auditors, including reconciliation, pledge tracking, and revenue recognition.
- Report effectively on fundraising performance across annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and planned giving.
- Use reporting to strengthen accountability, focus leadership attention, and inform adjustments to strategy and tactics over time.
